If you now zoom in you will end up on the roof of Spokes.

Just below and to the left a little is the station of Alcantarilha and Armacao de Pera. Here apart from the station is a small local supermarket which sells just the basics, some fruit and veg. Beers wine etc Fresh rolls and braed daily except Sundays. Attached to the small shop is the typical old time bar for a cold beer or ice-cream on those hot summer days. There is also another small bar and the larger O Feedback bar which is a popular music venue mostly at weekends. The music is performed by various members of the ex-pat community. The bar itself is very wheelchair accessible but the toilets are not.

This little enclave around the station is only a few minutes walk from Spokes.

The station  is on the local Algarve line which runs from The river at the border with Spain in the East to Lagos in the West. There are only a few trains a day so timing trips is important. To connect with the express trains to Lisbon is only 15 mins  ride to Tunes. Faro is about 1 hr and the station there is a 10 euro ride from the airport.

Unfortunately the train has no facilities for the disabled. Mant clients have taken the train to Lagos and stopped at the station on the beach at Meia Praia. A wonderful and cheap way to see the Algarve. The village of Malhao is surrounded by  hundreds of acres of orange trees. A walk through the orange groves is a few mins from Spokes. At blossom time the air is full of the essence of orange.
